fantastic site and well worth looking through.
i joined 50th missile in 1973 and went to 21 bty. i stayed with 21 bty until they moved to 27 field regiment in lippstadt.
i had some great times in germany and just wish i could live those days all over again. there is a story going about
that one of the btys in 50 missile did not take the clamps off the rocket and when they launched the actual launcher went
with with it and also a missile landed near a german lad who was fishing in a lake but everyone seems to think it
was 15 bty that launced the launcher. i eventually came out the army in 1982 after being attached to 26 american detachment
in paderborn driving them about on their post runs and px runs etc. when i was with the american detachment i often went
into geordies bar in sennelager.my days in menden were quite varied and also lippstagt was quite varied for me aswell.
once again well done on a great site keep up the good work. regards. Dave. PS. the phone number i have given

Hi there, Tommy
Nice to hear from you – glad you like ‘The 39ers Club’ website.
Yes I started ‘The 39ers Club’ about 3 or 4 years ago, I had noticed on the www. there were websites for 2
of the 3 Missile Regiments RA (Honest John Missile) that served in Germany in the 1960/70’s, but none for the 39 Missile
Regiment – so like a good soldier I started one!
‘PJ and Friends’ were my first site (PJ been part
of my name (Michael Paul John)), then some of my mates said why not call it ‘The 39ers Club’ after the 39 Missile
Regiment.
It cost a bit to set it up and then the running costs: Domain name, The 39ers Club. Photo pages –
site builder – postage and lots more, not to mention my time many a hour over the keyboard on the PC. But it worth it
all just to bring some of the lads together again (I had a few e mails thanking me for that) so it makes it worth while.
I
have a DONATION link at the bottoms of the main page, if any body cares to help with the running of ‘Our Club’.
We are planning for a Reunion in 2009, I know it sounds a long way off but some of us will be still around –
it should be a very good party – with the 3 Missile regts been there 24, 39 & 50 – you might be in Blackpool
around that time 5th to the 8th of June 2009, see you there.
I contact you my e mail with all the details, till
later Tommy

Served in 39 from 64 until 72 in Z Survey Troop, HQ Battery, also in H Battery for the
71 Northern Ireland tour. Good memories of it all, not forgetting The First, Bill Days, Geordies, Petes, Martini etc. Remember
the murder in the woods behind the camp, the body was being guarded by her Rhodesian Ridgeback dog, funny how things stick
in your mind.

A very high tech site , well done. I was the TSM of 171 Bty then BSM of 75Bty then the
first BSM of H Bty on it joining 39. I left H Bty in 1971 on retirement , I have no memory of being in Libya in 1969 so I
think that must be corrected. I was in Libya in 1951 . Old as I am I would surely have remembered. ( 74 on Wed ).
I went over to dempsey bks about 4 years ago and made contact with Danny Rogers the AKC Manager from the 60s he still lives
there. I also met John Kurles widow He was BQMS of H Bty in those days. So many of the Seniors from the 60.s are dead now,
none of us getting any younger. Best of luck with your project Bill You may like to mention that the wife of the Battery
Commander H Bty was muedered in the woods near the married quarters , it should all be documented somwhere.
